In September 2017 Ann Witheridge ran a landscape painting class for five weeks on Wimbledon Common. We started the first week with a quick painting sketch, and spent the next four weeks learning that even though your eyes see the trees in the distance as very dark shapes, they are in fact seeing it wrong. Your eyes need to be re-educated. I was a frustrated beginner, I thought my eyes were in great working condition. But with a small amount of patience and putting Ann's every comment into practice the work came forth and it was worth it.

This was taken in the penultimate week. Some details still to add at this point, but it's nearly there. I like how they sky joins up with reality rather well in this photo.
